Many people are aware of the importance of drinking water after their massage to flush out toxins; however, it is also important to make sure your body is completely hydrated BEFORE your massage. Because massage begins a detoxification process, if the kidneys and other organs do not have enough water, the body’s filtration system cannot handle the excess toxins eliminated during a massage.
Always make sure your body is completely hydrated before your massage. Start with a glass or two in the morning and drink an additional 8 ounces every hour or two before your massage. Be sure to empty your bladder before your massage so you will not be uncomfortable on the massage table. Continue drinking 8 ounces of water every 1-2 hours after your massage*
